This moment was completely unplanned. As I pain

This moment was completely unplanned.

As I painted, I felt an instinctive pull to use a rattle—almost as if the painting itself was asking for an energy shift. I had never done this before, but it felt right, so I followed my intuition and captured it on video.

This rattle holds deep meaning for me. It carries strands of horsehair from Johnnie—the first horse I ever rode during my lessons. He passed away years ago, but his presence and the lessons he taught me have never left. Maybe, in that moment, I was channeling his spirit and the wisdom he shared into the painting, letting his energy become part of the art itself.

Inspired by Ivy Newport’s Abstract by Design course, I took my own creative journey. Starting with a collage of horses, maps of Milan, an article about Paris, and an 1898 watercolor ad, I embraced an energetic mix of elements. ‘Cycling Through Portals’ captures the sensation of moving through lifetimes, reflecting my love for cycling and the sonar communication of whales and dolphins—hence the circular motion. It’s a playful exploration of curiosity, quickly moving through each portal without settling, always seeking new experiences. 🌀

Every time I pick up a brush, I’m laying the foundation for something new.

The white canvas invites fresh beginnings, free of expectations. 🌟

Sometimes it starts with a color I’ve envisioned, and from there, the process takes on a life of its own.

While the journey may not always be thrilling, I trust the process, embracing the unexpected and accepting the message that reveals itself through the painting. 🎨

Fun fact! This trip to the petroglyphs in Vegas on January 12, 2018, inspired my piece, Memories of Another Lifetime (check out my feed to see it!). 👀

It was the first painting I ever felt comfortable sharing with the world. What started as a simple exercise in colour blending transformed when I took an ink blotter and let stick figures emerge—playful, uninhibited, like they had always belonged there.

At the time, I was drawn to native dancers, caves, hieroglyphics, nature, and the freedom of doodling without restraint. This piece reflected that feeling of release, of sending my art out into the ethers. ✨

When I looked at it, I felt ready—ready for redemption, for something to lift me up. It reminded me that there was more out there: possibilities, joy, optimum health and well-being. I saw windows of opportunity, a world without timelines, judgment, or rules. A rebirth. I saw distant lands, an open invitation to step inside—to enter a cave or a temple, and discover what awaited.

Memories Of Another Lifetime I 💃

At a time when I was fascinated with Egyptian hieroglyphics and petroglyphs painted and carved on rocks, I felt a need to express these visions on paper. It also coincided with a time where I enjoyed dancing and having fun with movement.

This art piece, however, did not begin this way. While preparing a study on colour mixing and exploring what would happen when certain colours like pinks, oranges, yellows and blues were mixed together I discovered the contrasts that occurred when placing them next to each other. It was a structured exercise with rules.

Once the watercolours dried I pulled the paper off the shelf and proceeded to use an ink blotter to draw stick figures, like I was dancing, without a brush, no rules, it was freedom. I was dancing freely with the simple tip of the ink blotter. Then I felt the need to embellish the painting with patterns and designs, structures, markings and shapes. It became very concrete and structured and I felt the need to colour in the circles which later on appeared to me to be heads.

As I stood back and observed, I noticed that I had painted native dancers, moving freely within light and colour, free of inhibitions, where life just flowed and filled one with energy guided by nature.

It was the way life used to be. It was another lifetime.

This piece was created during spring Equinox, a time of rebirthing and also at a time when a full moon was appearing in the illuminated sky.

Deciding to create my own design on terraskin paper, I chose acrylic paints from a limited palette of three colours, titanium white, crimson red, and ultramarine blue. From that master design I selected a small rectangular section on the paper that resonated with me.

Picking up a gold coloured paint tube with a squeeze top tip I proceeded to outline the movements that I enjoyed seeing in this design. It felt very soft, gentle and comforting as the creativity flowed through me. The gold filaments began resembling the strings of a violin and I became careful not to get them entangled.

With this painting I feel like I took myself underwater and then noticed the spiralling... like the essence of DNA. This is a renewal in a sense. Everything is birthed out of the waters, the waters of creation, the waters of the womb.

As I stood back and reflected, I noticed a resemblance of fetuses inside their pods, all bobbing in the water, waiting to be birthed. The blooms appeared healthy as they moved back and forth in the currents and cycles of life. Noting that sometimes beauty can be deceiving.

In this moment I felt like I was revisiting fragments of my own life. With an inner knowing that I have now come back to review my stories and to find my own inner beauty through the underwater blooms.

It is fun to try new things so I began experimenting with encaustic wax painting using my favourite colours, red, blue and turquoise. As a symbol of renewal I added a piece of birch bark to the painting. The wax was soft and warm and I felt the urge to scrape out new pathways and patterns as they emerged in the process.

Carving out my memories, I recognized the old richness in the sea, and in the water. Memories need to be known because I couldn’t just leave myself waxed and hardened. I sought the truth in pursuit of regeneration.

It feels like I am building a new strong foundation. The reds are very strong and healthy, vital...strong like when a new body goes through a cleansing.

Feeling the warm bubbles under my skin, I pry my eyes wide open with the excitement of what I am witnessing underwater.

It’s an underwater garden. I can smell the beautiful scent of it. It warms my heart.

Mother Earth is wrapping her arms around this vibrant coral. I recognize little creatures, prehistoric animals, nests, shells, butterflies, and turtles embedded in the painting. Now sensing a feeling of something colourful and alive in the waters whilst remembering the old richness in the sea.

I believe everything that has been on this planet has arrived here to regenerate itself.

Created during a time when I explored my passion for sailing, and the desire to return to the water, the helm and charting new courses. My intuition led me to find clues to help fulfill my self-expression, purpose, and my life journey.

I collected painting supplies and proceeded to doodle. While experimenting with watercolours I watched the pools of water on the paper absorb the reds, greens, and blues. Zooming in on the framework that was being laid out in front of me, I took a black sharpie and outlined the shapes that had bloomed.

Piece by piece, bit by bit, I meticulously punctuated and embellished the beautiful shapes and colours. Looking through a microscope, working in every direction until all was illuminated and identified, I noticed that each part had a story to tell. It was
a meditative process.

Taking a deep breath, I stepped back and recognized Mother Earth. She had been broken into little pieces and the picture was bringing her back whole again like a puzzle. Her life forces, the waters, cows, whales, dolphins, and prehistoric animals like the woolly mammoth, all coming back to earth reoxygenated and
repaired.

Out of chaos and confusion, a regrowth, clean water and fresh air emerged. It was heartwarming. The tectonic plates could be heard shifting and crunching as she was transforming herself. The promise of unification felt comforting as the earth’s consciousness was healing.

Mother Earth was now breathing deeply, reuniting, and
reintegrating herself. And I was sensing a healing in myself. ❤️
